WHEATON PARK DISTRICT DOG CLASSES
For dogs 16 weeks and older (4 months) and for a shelter dog where you need to tap into any prior training they may have had. Learn (and refine) the basic obedience commands in a group setting with distractions of other dogs and other stimuli. Sit, down, stay, recall, loose leash walking and appropriate human and doggie interactions covered. You will also learn techniques to create effective boundaries in your home, help with preventing your dog from jumping on guests, effective leadership and communication skills to ensure that your dog is understanding what is being ask of them. For dogs with prior group training we will work on refining all of your previous learned skills and keep your socialization skills good as your dog matures. In the warmer weather we will work outside on our basics and leash walking skills. We will also walk through downtown LaGrange and work on our socalization and greeting skills.

This class is designed to not only mentally and physically exercise your pet, but to teach you and your pet to work as a TEAM! You and your dog will travel the agility course while your dog learns jumps, going through weave poles and tubes, climbing an A-Frame and running to the finish for the win (A TREAT!). You will guide your dog through all of these things telling them where to go next and what they will be doing. It is great fun for both you and your pet! This is a non-competition, fun class for you and your pet (this class does not meet AKC Agility Regulations and is designed for fun and exercise). I have had many people decide to continue their agility run by enrolling in an AKC recognized agility competition program after trying this class and seeing how much fun and how rewarding it can be. Perfect class for shy dogs to build confidence and energetic dogs that need to burn off a bit of energy or gain a bit of focus.
Join us for an hour of jumps, hoops and more. Agility for Fun is a non-competition agility class designed to enhance the owner/pet relationship and give your dog the mental and physical exercise s/he needs. For dogs 8 months and older. People friendly pets only.

Yes, doggie fitness! Beat the winter blues and do something different with your pet while having fun and working their mind and muscles!
New Canine Fitness classes work on your pet’s mobility, agility, confidence, and muscle tone. Your pet will work on foot placement, balance discs, and wobble boards. All of these things help build a dog’s core and large muscle groups, which may help prevent certain medical ailments as your pet ages. It is also a lot of FUN!
What dogs will benefit? Shy dogs, reactive dogs, well balanced dogs, active dogs, young puppies, aging dogs, and any dog!
Your pet will also learn impulse control and improve their obedience skills as they will all be used during our fitness time. These types of activities also promote confidence in your dog and burn off excess energy. FitPAWS fitness equipment and various other balance equipment will be used
